misfiring probs.....help pls!!!
hey guys,
could use your help/advice again. my 1998 1.8t qtr started misfiring at low speed/rpm for no apparent reason. the next morning the battery was dead, so i replaced it. still, the car would "hunt" when idle ie there would be random increases in the rpm's when idle. although, once the car gets going it seems ok...but from a standstill it tends to misfire as i accelerate.
i managed to get to the dealership...the "diagnostics" are underway.... any thoughts of what i should be looking out for? thnx <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0">

misfiring probs.....help pls!!!
hey guys,
thnx for the replies...
so far they checked the mass air flow, throttle body, engine control module. they say that all components are fine but that the fault codes are erratic....whatever that means. they want to enter stage II diagnostics. which to me means nothing but more hours on useless checks coz in 4hrs they havent found anything!!! as u can tell, im kinda choked...arent dealerships meant to be able to solve these probs with relative ease given that they have the software for it? or is it more complicated than that? i think that i might take it to another audi dealership. do u thgink that my current problem could have anything to do with the power output stage i replaced about 5 months ago?
thnx for your help....no doubt im choked, im getting around in a mitsubishi rental that i cant even fit in!!!
