Default more bad luck with my b5

it seems that I've been chased by bad luck ever since I purchased this b5. First, I found out that I had to replace the control arms. Then, I got an 8 point speeding ticket, which I plan to fight. Now, couple of days after the control arms replacement was completed, I was getting ready to go out and I took my audi to the car wash to get it nice and shiny. After the car was washed and I picked it up, I noticed that the carpet on the driver's side was soaked wet. It seemed abit out of the blue but I didn't pay too much attention. Then, as I started driving, the EPC light came on and I could feel that the car lost significant acceleration power even though I had the gas pedal to the floor. I couldn't go fasster than about 40-45 mph. Then, I pulled over, I turned the car off, and then I turned it back on. The EPC light was gone but it came back on after about 5 more minutes of driving. The CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came back on at the same time. Then, I popped the hood and tried to see what the hell is going on. To my amazement, I saw plenty of water just sitting in that compartment that sits between the engine and the cabin (it's where the battery sits, that whole compartment was filled with water), and the water was leaking inside the cabin through where the steering assembly goes through the cabin and into the engine compartment. Apparently, the stupid mechanic did not tighten the mask that covers the wipers and seals the windshield.

I don't know if I made this clear enough, hopefully I did. Anyway, I took all the water out with a sponge (filled about about half of a 10 gallon bucket) and had fans drying my car over night. As I turn the car on now, I don't have the EPC on but just the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT on. You guys think my car suffered some damage? What could be wrong with it?

thank you

This is why I don't get my engine bay detailed..... I can't stand how greasy they leave the interior too. I would assume the water was causing your problem hope nothing was permanently damaged. The check engine light will be on for a while you can get it reset or some lights will go away after a while if it doesn't see the problem anymore (like 5 starts or a 2 hours of running idk the exact way it goes) Just don't let them touch your engine bay anymore if you want it clean in there do it yourself w/ a some engine degreaser and some rags. You can rinse w/ a hose just focus on the engine block, covers, and body sides to the small things by hand.

this was a regular carwash, just the exterior and the interior. they never popped the hood to wash the engine. the water dripped under the hood through the mask that was supposed to be tightened on the lower part of the windshield. the stupid mechanic forgot to tighten that and he probably forgot to put some seals back in place, and that's what caused the water from outside to leak inside. it sucks man, it's like my baby suffered serious traumas and I feel like it will never be the same. I was so crazy about my a4, and now I feel like it's been handicapped.
