Default Motor Mounts

I just had my motor mounts replaced this week. I picked up the car today and man it still has some major vibrations. You can see the passanger seat shaking when at idle. I can feel it through the floor board, gear shifter..pretty much everywhere.

I asked the mechanic and he said it will take a little time for them to seat. Does this sound right? Is there something else this could be?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

what density did you go with, or was it just an oem replacement?

you can loosen the nut to the engine mount, let the car idle a bit and then tighten it back up.

If you are using a mount that is stiffer then stock then you might feel some vibration anyway since the stock engine is pretty much not all that balanced.

It was an OEM replacement. The vibration at idle has lessened, but it still pretty significant while driving. The motor sounds so much louder now to. It this just because the motor mounts are new and it takes a while for them to settle? The car is dead quiet at idle, just loud and lot of vibration while driving.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think your issue is not the mounts.

Yeah, the car just doesn't sound right under the hood. At idle it is a quiet as can be, but while driving it sounds so loud to me. I popped the hood and had someone rev the engine and it sounds pretty loud, mainly coming from the front of the motor where the belts and fans are. I was going to take it into the shop and see if they can diagnose. He is thinking maybe a vacuum leak.

The vibration is still there as well, again while driving. I can feel it in the steering wheel, pedals, seats etc.

I did notice something a little strange. When you are looking into the front of the engine bay where the belts and fans are there is a silver metal piece that sort of looks like it connecting the pulley systems together. Right in the middle. At idle this does not move at all, but when the AC is on you can see it moving. Normal? Does that make sense?

Took the car back into the shop this morning. He is having me come back on Saturday to readjust the motor mounts. He said when the put the mounts in it did lift the motor up a bit and it is pretty darn close the manifold. I am hoping with and adjustment it will help with the vibration and noise. He checked for a vacuum leak and the belts and everything seemed ok. He said the piece that I talked about moving with the AC on was normal. I believe he said the tensioner. I was half asleep, so bear with me
