my 99 A4 is making a unusual engine noise

so it started about a week ago when i turn my heater on my engine drops idle for a couple seconds and i get a vibration in my steering wheel i think it might be my compresser what do yall think?

Does the noise go away when the climate system is turned off?

yes the noise goes away when i turn the heater off

Try using the heater without the air conditioning compressor engaged. If the noise is still not apparent, the air conditioning compressor or compressor clutch mechanism is most likely worn.
