My car has been making a high pitch noise and it continues to make this noise. This noise gets louder when the rpm goes lower or when i'm turning the wheels. Now my car has started to rattle when i start it up. It makes this noise for about 20 min after. I was wondering what it could be.

 

the noise your speaking of sounds to me like a power steering pump.. check your fluid levels.. its right behind the driver side headlight..

 

yeah your power steering fluid is probably almost gone, You might want to have your power steering rack checked for leaking, it seems to be a somewhat common problem for us 12v'ers

 

i think its just a common problem for the B5, i had to replace my rack and pinion. most likely just low on fluid, or lets just hope so anyway.

 

yeah I'm doing reasearch right now on trying to find a good place to get the powersteering rack, so far the cheapest i've found it is $350 for a rebuilt one

 

yeah, i got a rebuilt one from the dealership with a 1 year warranty for $700. yours sounds like a way better deal
