Thanks, vgo, that helps a lot!

Am I correct that in order to do the double din upgrade, I will need the following:

1) Double din cage from model year 2000-2001.5
2) Double din HVAC unit to fit the new cage above
3) Doube din Audi Symphony radio or a third party head unit
4) Double Din console cover for Tiptronic tranny
5) Double din trim

Did I miss anything?

You will need a new cage along with the centre console. You will also need a new ashtray. As for the shifter surround trim plate. It will be hard finding that piece. I got one that came from a 2000-2001, sorta made of plastic and was a little beaten up (the one in my car had the wood finish), so it made it easier for me to cut to make it fit. I painted it anyway so it didnt matter if it was crappy looking.

The symphony radio is a direct plug and play with your concert harness.

Ok, so the only two things I missed were a new center console and the new ashtray?

The center console is the big plastic piece that surrounds the cage and goes down and surrounds the shifter(Not the trim piece that fits in between everything), correct?

My 1999.5 was the first model with the facelift.

I must say, for someone who vowed to keep Brunnhilde stock, I'm transforming into an "upgrade" mentality already.
