Lol. Great story. I was directed from the topic about a guy wanting to know what he should do first for hp.

Hilarious thread, Brad. Great attitude! That's actually why I got up the courage to start fixing my A4 myself, because I now have the wife's car as a backup.

Hope you get the bolt outta there without too much trouble.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I think you are all laughing AT me... because I'm not really laughing...

Its not really laughing AT you, its more like laughing in relief that it isn't ME this time. Or nervous laughter that it will be ME the next time I try to do.....whatever. Thinking of doing my valve cover gaskets soon so....

Please, let us know how that turns out.

Let me change things a little. If you have a 1.8T and you've looked around in the back of the engine bay, you know you only have about 3 to 4 inches to work with between the head and the firewall. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this thing out without having to pull the head?

If I do have to pull the head, what should I do while I've got everything ripped apart? I mean, if I have it wide open, I guess a little maintenance while I'm at it wouldn't hurt.

Well, I went out and tried to sweet talk the mistress for about an hour today, but she's still being a little bitch. Then it got cold and windy, so I gave up and went back to COD Black Ops. Gonna take the wife out to a movie instead. That damn bolt is going to be the death of me!

Can you lift the car and go at it from the bottom?

If you end up pulling it, why not knock out the tb, and all that good stuff, have the head cleaned/rebuilt, clean the IM, cam tensioner gasket, etc

Hell you could even drop the oil pan, and change out the bearings
