Default My oil is getting HOT

Okay, so I just replaced my timing belt, water pump, and thermostat. The car runs great. The coolant gauge stays right in the middle and doesn't budge. However, the oil used to be right around 200* F, but now its nearly hitting 250* F. I had a small coolant leak at the thermostat housing and the coolant dripped on the harness at the bottom of the oil pan. Could this be causing faulty readings on my dash? I know I need to check the true temp of the oil, but I just wanted to get some input. Thanks!
