Default my side mirrors are brown, heelp

I know its a very common problem for audi mirrors to turn brown. My problem is that I was going to install my chrome mirror housings today cause the weather is actually nice, but when I went to remove the glass the brown part (the bottom half of my driver side mirror is almost completely browned) started to chip away, leaving me with just clear glass.

I stopped trying to remove it until I find some new glass to put in the new housings. So on my search for glass (yes I searched these forums) all I have found so far is a set of non-auto dimming glass from ECS tuning which clocks in at $144. There is no way in hell I am paying that much for 2 pieces of glass thats not even from the stealership.

Where can I find some new mirrors for cheap! I have tried ebay to but I only seem to find glass for 2000+ and usually B6s and B7s.

please any insight, I have actually been wanting to replace these for a few months now

I had the same problem. . .my solution probably won't help but it's a good story at least. I had to go to germany for a business trip so I just braught some back with me. cost 20 euros each as opposed to 50$ and 150$ which is the quote I was getting here in Canada. I thought I saw some on ebay though and some other internet sites that I was going to try out. I think I remember my mechanic suggested to just have some normal mirror glass cut out to the same shape and just glue it over the old ones.

the best way to go is to find someone on here or craigslist or something like that who is selling thiers. I bought mine from someone on here and got both for like $60. So yeah, look for a used set. That'd be the cheapest way to go. Maybe check out a junkyard.

Thanks for your replies. I have tried the junkyard search, and have been hounding ebay for a few months now to no prevail. To bad I'm not planning a trip to Germany anytime soon, it honestly sounds like the easiest option lol

you might ask around with cars that are getting parted out in the classifieds section. Here's one https://www.audiforums.com/m_621650/tm.htm
