Thumbs up My Spectre / K&N 2.8L Intake w/ Heat sheild

I know this has probally been done before but i figured i would post up my intake. I did notice more throttle response, and a SLIGHT difference in the upper RPM range, the butt dyno did notice that something was 'different' but nothing major. Great sound. Worth the $65 K&N Filter $4 sheet metal and the $12 pipe. Looks clean in my opinion. The Heat Sheild is cut so that it wraps around the headlight and goes all the way back to the second firewall. Took me about 2 hours to cut the sheet metal and put it together with 6 beers in 2 hours.

i have the sheet metal, metal sheers and the measurements. i'm just lazy lol. well winter is here so i don't have to worry about it much. next spring, it will def happen. i'm using stainless steel BTW. yours is basically what mine will look like but i was thinking about using insulation too

Very cool man it looks great. did you use a pattern or just kinda eyeball it and cut the metal as you went?

HAHA I'm the same way. I have the intake sittin in a box in my closet and all the makings of a heat shield, i'm just too lazy to actually do it. I figure i'll take some measurements and make a pattern, then work on the heat shield over the winter and put it in next spring. What kind of insulation were you thinkin about? I contemplated making a double walled shield with a little air gap for insulation...whatcha think?

eh as far as horse power is concerned, i doubt you're gonna squeeze much out of it. the stock intake is actually pretty efficient in that regard, its definitely gonna sound cooler though!

gas mileage went up slightly, maby 1-2mpg. im sure its better on the highway.

You can hear the engine gupling in air. Really gets you more intune with car, sounds GREAT.

Read review above for the rest.

Worth it in my mind +

O and CCA4 i kinda just cut as i went, i got the 'jist' of the shape needed, the more time u spend the more perfectly its going to block every possible chance for hot air to get in. When you do it, my one peice of advice would be becareful with the sheet metal and DONT be afraid to kind of 'muscle' the sheild into place to see if it fits. When you do it, it helps to curl up the sheet and flatted it out into place, you'll know what i meen when you do it.
