My tribute to all of you, audis superiorior engineering, and dedication to our cars!!
What do I love most about my car? The fact that I paid 4,500 bucks for it over a year ago, it still runs like a champ, and in 3 years, when my oldest turns 16, I can give him the keys. The car will still be well maintained, the car will still be running great, and in 2013, when he's 16, the car will be 14 years old, yet he will still be showing up to school in one of the best cars in the student parking lot.
Audi's aren't perfect, but I have to say they are not "average" cars.
About a year ago at my last place of work, I was standing in the main lobby when the head of Finance(a friend) and the assistant to the CEO come walking by and the assistant says out-of-the-blue "That's not your car is it?". Naturally I have no idea what she's talking about and the surprise tone in her voice caused all sorts of doom senarios involving my car to race through my head, until my friend chimes in. He explains that he'd pointed out my car this morning in the parkade and that she(the assistant) didn't believe it was mine. Casually I admitted that the Audi was mine and she said "Nice car!" in a surprised tone.
They continued on and I chuckled to myself. My car is probably one of the most inexpensive cars in the parkade, but to non-enthusiasts I supposed that it looks expensive. Especially considering there's a Bentley that parks across from me, but it made me think. The average person doesn't know much about cars, they see nice paint, a badge, leather and that is enough for them. What I usually see is what I still need to do to my car not the qualities it already has. The new car euforia wears off quite quickly for me, but it made me think back to when I first bought the car and how impressed I was. It made me realize that th b5 does age well and I should be glad to have it, and I am.

"You drive an Audi and I drive a Toyota. There's something wrong with that."
Something like that, anyway they all said omg nice car etc. etc.
In my head I'm thinking "I paid less than 4k for it, it has the interior ripped out and a door panel missing due to my laziness, yet they're all still oogling over it. God I love my car."
Lol. <3 Audi.
Hahahaha, thats happened to me soooo many times, it can be very fulfilling to get compliments. Like I said, my car is 11 years old w/ 200,000 miles. a few months back at a poker game some guy w/ a 05 A4 parked behind me in the street, and while outside talking about the cars, another girl said "Is that one brand new?" POINTING TO MINE!!! When I told her how old it was and the mileage she didnt believe me, I actually had to show her the registration and odomoter.
They do age better than most any car out today, I assume mostly due the body hasnt changed too much in 12 years, I goes to show you that instead of coming out w/ 12 new model cars every 2 years like ford and GM do. Audi sticks to an engineering plan, and over time makes small changes to an already reliable machine all the while perfecting the design.
This in my opinion is why Ford and GM have struggled so much in the past. (from an engineering standpoint) they are constantly changing things and by the time they have all the kinks worked out of one model, what do they do????? They say, Hey!!! lets design a completely new car w/ countless new problems.
Just take a look at the plastics used in a Cadillac even, and compare them to any VW Audi or any european car for that matter, I swear I think the plastics used in GM's cars is derived from the containers of Tic Tacs. the get a bunch of them, melt them down, mold them and paint em black.
GOD I love Audi, and honestly couldnt even imagine driving anything else. Thank you Germany!
