i have clouds of white smoke from my exhaust. oil in the exhaust is almost dripping. i have a 2001 audi a4 1.8t quattro. Smokes pretty bad at when first started but then gets slightly better as you drive. im thinking its turbos of course. catalytic converters also rattle pretty bad.

if this is the problem how can i confirm it? ive read that there will be oil in the intercooler. also if it is the turbo what is the cheapest way to fix it. my car has 148,000 miles. i dont want to upgrade my turbo i just want to rebuid or get a replacement whichever is cheaper.

it sounds like the turbo is bad white smoke says that and it wont help the catalyst because it will fill up with oil

when you say the turbo is bad that means the seals go out or the turbo goes out. i checked the turbo and it doesnt leak any oil externally. is this normal to just have internal leaks? also if this is the case should i definitly have oil in my intercooler?
