Well that's what I first thought. But then I got the maintenance and emissions testing records which showed a clear pattern of about 3k miles per year.

Will be doing an oil change soon, I've only changed oil on Japanese cars, anything out of the ordinary with an A4? Filter tough to get at or anything?

Not to hard to get at, just make sure you drain the oil and not tranny fluid... We've seen that happen a few times!

Well, you do have to take the lower valence thing off. More than I can say for the Jap economy cars I've worked on. Did the change at my mech's shop while he was doing a new outer tie rod end, figured I might as well while it was on the hoist. The filter on these things is freakin huge for a 1.8!!!

That was changed a while back from the tiny filter they came with originally to help combat the sludge issues that motor is notorious for. Keep using it!

I have a 2000 A4 1.8T with 65K in Michigan and everything works and looks new...especially the LCD It is strange to have a 12 year old car with 30K on the clock...that comes down to 208 miles per month!

I've put over 200 miles on it in less than a week. And I may be doing a ~2300 mile road trip in about 10 days if weather is permitting. A year's use in less than a month. This car's gonna love me haha

Awesome find! i recently picked up an 01 with 150k miles on it, looks like it would have 30k on it though! lcd works perfectly, interior is clean as can be and paint is flawless.

Good luck with it. should last you a LONG time!
