Smile New here with B5

Hi everyone,

My name is Fabian

I just bought an 1996 quattro 2.8

The car has only 97000 miles, but a lot issues.

First of all, the engine sounds good.

the Bad!
No Powersteering at all.
a lot of oil everywhere (maybee because of leaking steering fluid?)
Timming belt needs to be changed since i have no record about it.
Driversite rear bearing bad
brakes bad
interioer ehhh (i am on it)
dents in doors

i will upload pictures but havent figured out photoshop yet dam!

Anyway i already took the front of the audi, i hope only the pump is bad, the rack doesn't make a big mess like this!

need to go my wife calls! to be continued!!!!

Welcome to AF!

Sounds like you've got your hands full, I hope you didn't pay very much for that car...

Default Welcome

Hope you like working on cars. The Audis are a little tricky and require some new tools, but otherwise okay to work on.

The guys here are really helpful.

My steering fluid leak was less than yours and was at the hose that leads to the power steering fluid cooler behind the front bumper. New Audi term for you - "service position."

You shouldnt have to be in the service position to take the power steering cooler off.

Its not bad. The only thing on there to worry about is if they used the wrong power steering fluid and destroyed your rack. Everything else isnt that big a deal. Hope you got a good deal.

one side on the rack is leaking, the question? How bad can it be!
Since there is so much oil i dont know where to start!
Should i fix the steering first and after that the timing belt or all together since i am taking the front of ( i guess thats what you mean with service position)
Ok i try pictures today!
i payed a $1000 which is not bad for this car! The guy before me didnt do sh** on this car!
I bought it to resell it, but i am falling in love with it!
