Default Newbie Coming From 04R32 RIP Sad Story

Hey whats up everybody. over the past few days ive been looking into buying a new car due to the fact that my 04 VW R32 was wrecked(sad story explain later). Ive been browsing through this site trying to get an idea on what kind of audi i want and ive narrowed it down to 2, either an a4 1.8t 4motion or an s4. i just want your input on what i should get, pros and cons of each. I have about 5k saved up and i just broke my left foot to days ago so im out of commission for awhile but it gives me time to save up money seeing as how i work for my father and we carpool to work everyday. ive never purchased a new car so if i could get some info (i.e. idiots guide to buying a used car) much appreciated.

As for the bad news, my r32 was completely totaled about a month and a half ago, and im still recovering emotionally from the accident. So heres the story, i went to canada to visit my grandfather for his 76th bday, and i left my car with my cousin due to the fact he was obsessed with this car. I got a phone call about 3 or 4 days later saying that he had been killed in a car accident in my car. Not only do i feel responsible for leaving a 16 yr old kid the keys to my car i feel that i could have prevented this by not "di*king around in the car with him. I dropped out of school this semester just because it was hard dealing with all of this but plan to re-enroll in college next yr. Sorry to get side tracked, and im not asking people to feel bad on my part i just feel that its good to get out the message that street racing can and does kill young people. Im not going to lie, even driving my dads bmw after all of this is hard. being on the road kinda scares me sometimes.

Any thoughts pertaining to the first paragraph would be greatly accepted. ive already taking enough criticism on what ive told you in the second paragraph from my family and would greatly appreciate it if negative comments were not made to me.

thank you and god bless

If you dont plan on doing much mods then buy the S4, but if you are into doing mods and would rather spend less for the car buy an A4 1.8t "quattro". Sorry the 4 motion was a VW Passat name used for their AWD car.

Single Turbo 4banger vs twin turbo
150-170 hp stock vs 250 hp stock
200 chipped vs 310 chipped
Less expensive for service, moding, and more options vs very expensive in every way

b5 s4 = good power out the box.... 2.7l bi-turbo v6

b5 a4 = good tunner car.... 1.8l single(hair dryer sized)turbo 4 cyl

mike hood... ^^^^ has a a4 that will rival most slightly built or maybe even stage 3 s4's

a4/s4 = fairly expensive to maintain unless you can wrench

s4 = very expensive if the turbo's go bad, upgrade is 2 of everything

mike has got his a4 into the 10's

plenty of people have got their s's into the 10's

i would rather have a 10 second a4

Lol, there is only one B5 chassis in the world that is faster than mikes car... None of the stg 3 or GT series S4's in america have beaten him yet.

Very few S4's running 10's. Marc ran high 10's but his car was fully gutted with nothing but a seat, cluster wire tied in place and 2500 lbs with him it in. Only twin GT in the states to hit 10's so far was the Eurocode S4 and only with me driving it.

Only other B5 that has ran faster then my 10.5 is OZ in europe which runs 9's with twin BAT's and a huge shot of nitrous.

I'm really sorry to hear what happened.

Basically like everyone said, the main difference lay in the engine bay.
Personally, I was also looking for the S4 before I purchased the A4 and I was also browsing the forums to find out more about these cars. I decided to go with the A4 as it seems like the S4 tends to break down a lot.

As for me though, all I really wanted was the B5 body style so I was fine with the A4.

Anyway, where in California are you? If you're happened to be in SoCal, you should come to one of our GTG's and check out the cars your self in person!

Sounds great!

I believe the next one we're having will be this month on the 28th. It will be a friendly poker tournament and I believe Supedug (one of the local members) will be hosting it in Newport Beach area.

Drop by the West section to see more of the future GTG's!

Looking forward to meeting you sometime soon.
