Newbie - Help with specific VAG code 17707
I've been working through the fault codes as the engine light keeps coming on. I replaced one of the Air Pump Check Valves, that helped...still here's what I've got...

Did you already clear your codes and drive the car around for a day or so and check the codes again? If your having a misfire you should definitely feel it while driving. You didnt say if there was any problems besides the codes. Also some information about your car will make it easier for people to help you out(the year and engine).
Yes, I cleared the codes and drove around. While changing the one air pump check valve helped it. It still stutters on a good acceleration. And at that point the engine light may even flash for a bit. It will come back to simply being on after a couple of seconds.
Info: 2000 Audi A4 1.8 - it's an automatic - it's your basic A4.

I am still a learner myself, but I can try to help you as best I could. Seems like your having a common misfire(flashing CEL/ Studdering). Only thing wierd is what twoeightquattro pointed out is why does it say 6 and 12 cylinders are misfiring if you have a 1.8t like me and I only have 4. But most likely the problem is your coilpack, spark plugs, and/or like me the coil pack wires.

I'm up for changing the coil pack, spark plugs, etc. So I'll dive into it. Any way to diagnose the coilpack to see if there's a problem there?

Swap two bad cyinders' coils/plugs with ones that you think are working - maybe cylinder 12 with cylinder 11
- and see if the misfire moves to that cylinder. If it moved, you need a new coil/plug. Don't buy parts that are unnecessary. I actually think that the 2000's have a recall on coil packs; you could perhaps go to the dealer and ask them about it, there are people on here who have gotten 4 coil packs for free because of this - they are like $40 each.

Ok clearly the car is going to jack up if you just unplug a coil pack while running. What you have to do is move one coil pack at a time (turn the car of when you do this) and see if the misfire follows the coilpack. The coil pack might not be all the way bad thats why it's so different if you just unplug it. make sure you are clearing the codes everytime you move a pack
