Cool newish A4 owner

i say newish because im coming up on 1 year of owning my 99 A4 1.8T Quattro but the first time posting on here.

Now im looking into changing the timing belt and water pump myself before winter gets here as im at the 102K mile mark. I was wondering if there should be anything else i should do while im at it i can make a weekend of it.

also anyone got a fix for a electical short for the blasted sunroof mine keeps opening the vent and doesnt always want to close right away.

Also im not a big fan of automatic trannys so i might be biased on how it feels to me. But the transmission feels like rubbish forcing me to stick to the tiptronic and upshifting for it. I dont know if its a issue with other people but thats my only complaint with the car since ive owned it.

For the sunroof its the switch that just needs to be cleaned, my sunroof would open up by itself and when i took the switch off and cleaned it it hasn't opened up by itself since, i'm no tranny expert but my tranny seems to be a lil "rubbish" too but i think that just might be normal....but that also might be since i have 196,xxx on it. Also look into replacing your coolant flange too becasue last winter mine got a small hole in it and started leaking coolant and i couldn't drive it very far before it would start to overheat...when you put in the new water pump get the one with a metal wheel in it cuz the plastic ones always seem to break...and replace your thermostate too.
