Default No coolant flowing to heater core.

Since I've had the car it has had problems warming up. I think its due to a stuck open thermostat. I removed the belt fan blades and have cardboard over the radiator. I'm not taking apart the front end and timing belt to replace the thermostat. The car is just kind of a beater, its not in good shape.

The car warms up fine now, still only gets to 165*.

The heat has never worked, and I thought it was a clogged core, I started the car with the hoses off and no coolant flows out. The inlet hose is warm at the base though.

What would stop coolant from flowing to the core?

water pump is new, if the water pump didn't work the car would overheat.

Wheres the heater valve? Is it vacuum operated?

Bleed the cooling system. Remove the 3 screws that hold the G-12 reservoir.
Set heater to the highest setting. Fill the reservoir and lift it up. Let the
bubbles run up.

Isnt there a valve that bypasses the heater core? It could be stuck open.

Thats a good possibility. I screwed up and put in antifreeze with silicone, I believe. The motor ran cold and it all gunked up. I need to do a flush or two. Its probably gumming up all kinds of ****.

Where is this valve? On the back of the motor? Is it a pita to get out?
