Default No second gear! Help! B5 a4 2.8

I was rounding a corner today and shifted to 2nd gear at 5k and I heard POP! And now now second gear will not hold. Pops out every time. What broke and does anyone know how to fix it?

I dont know to much about this but....i think your baulk rings or synchro are done for and you need to take apart the tranny to replace those.

Even if the synchro was broken, it would be harder to get it in, but it would stay in. Popping out of gear is usually a sign that the gear is worn. May you broke a tooth. I don't think you'll sove it with a fluid change though.

Yeah. Since I've had the car, it's always made a slight grinding noise shifting to second at 4.5k and up. It felt as though I were speed shifting.

Too bad, it's hard to live without 2nd. I almost never use 4th, but 2nd.........

2nd is not that hard to live without you gotta wind out first 100% tho, but in a 2.8 no second still sucks.

Where you notice no 2nd is in stop and go traffic. In a slow moving traffic jam I'm in 2nd constantly.
