So I got the whole front of my car tore apart after work today it's ready for the rest of the timing belt service tomorrow. To my surprise there is no timing belt dampener, just the roller. Now, I have the dampener, but not bolts for it and no relay lever. Should I just leave it off and send it back for a refund?

I don't know the details but there was an older style timing belt tensioning setup; could you have that? I would use what comes with the kit...

It's a 97 2.8 12v, so it could be. But there are holes for the dampener (I think that's what they're for). And it didn't come with the kit but after reading about the job some more I thought I needed it and ordered one.

Same here, 97 A4 V6. No hydraulic dampener. Just the roller.

Yeah I'm not too happy with ECS Tuning right now. I ordered the dampener on the 15th, and it was listed under the timing parts for a 12v. So I go to double check tonight and it's not there. The one I have is only for the 30 valves. It wouldn't bother me if it was a $20 part, but it was $100. They will be getting a call soon.
