not your average missfire
hello fellas and chics i own a 99 a4 b5 1.8t 91,000 miles giac chip, evom intake. about 2 months ago i had a cylinder 3 misfire for about 20 seconds maybe less(time slows in a panic) so i went to my local auto zone and had them pull and clear the codes i dont remember the codes but thay were low fuel and cylinder 3 misfire. then that was followed buy a funny bouncing idle only in nuteral rolling to a stop. when the car stoped the idle went to the correct spot. after 2 days of this annoying problem i replaced the plugs and cleaned the air filter put sum fuel injector cleaner in the tank and theproblem was fixed so i thought. well now i have a misfireagain (cel going crazy)so i bought a new coil . still same problem . checked for a spark nothing. dead nada. as i looked around the engine bay i noticed the 2 zip ties were broken that held the wires to the coils that was the only thing that i could see wrong. also the seat belt light, gas light and the light across from that would flicker when i drove it over to my girls house to park it till i could figure out what iam going to do.(a few streets away) i replaced the engine coolant temp sensor about a year ago is it possible that went bad again? please help
Those sound like some wack a$$ issues. I dont see the zip ties making a problem, but if the injector cleaner fixed it for a bit then maybe that is the problem. It would explain the bouncing idle and the missfires. Run the cleaner through again to see if it does anything and if so, then i would suggest starting with replacing the injectors and work back through the fuel system form there. It would also be a good idea to run to autozone and pull the codes again.
you have zip ties holding the connectors to your coil packs...
go to audi parts department and have them order up the locking connectors for the coil pack harness. replace the connectors. a loose connection at the coil pack will cause a miss every time

im kinda afraid to drive it. you can smell the unburnt fuel. so i know that the injetors are working. yes they could be clogged but that wouldnt be related to the no spark would it?
well the dealer just called me the timing belt jumped 2 teeth [:@]
what kind of damage am i looking at? it happend at idle but i did drive it about 6 miles to get it home am i lucky or am i doomed. the dealer is gonna do a compreson test next.

The same thing happened to me. I was at a light and the car started to misfire really badly andthe check engine light started flashing. So i parked the car and i didnt check it til the next day. The next morning i started the car and the misfire was gone.....so i thought. As i was driving to work about 30 mins later the problem came back. When i checked the car i realized it was cylinder 3 that was misfiring. I changed the coil, fuel injector and sparkplugs but the problem stayed the same. I dont think i skip a tooth on the timing because the problem would have not gone away. What else could it be? Please help.
