O2 sensor DIY...
Can anyone point me in the direction of a DIY for rear Oxygen sensor installment or replacement?
I have already searched here and on audiworld.com to no avail. How easy is the install? what does it entail?
Much appreciated.

My CEL codes are:
17606 - Oxygen (Lambda) sensor heater circuit: B1 S2: Electrical Malfunction
P1198 - 35 - 00
(and) 17607 - Oxygen (Lambda) sensor heater circuit: B2 S2: Electrical Malfunction
P1199 - 35 - 00
...I'm going to order a pair of Bosch OEM ones from ecs.
ES#2613
ES#2612
both heater circuits went out at the same time? seems strange to me that both post cat sensor heaters went out at the same time. btw this doesnt mean that they dont work, just that they dont heat up as fast as they should from a cold start. all you need to do the job is a O2 sensor wrench and a socket wrench. the O2 sensor socket is an offset socket with a slot in the side so you can get over the wire. looks like this...

ecs sells them for $40 or you can go to autozone and get one for $9.95. im not farmiliar with 2.8s but good luck getting in there, you might need a few swivel extensions and creativity for your socket wrench. its not a very hard job at all, just akward placement makes it a pain.

I agree with ghost. BOTH heaters going at once is tough to believe. I have the 2.8, and other than being stuck in there good, and having to get creative with access, it is not too tough of a problem. I use ramps on one end and jack stands on the other to get plenty of access for me (eh, like most on here, I'm thin, but unlike most, not "young").
I checked the wiring diagram in the Bentley manual (hint, hint), and it appears that although they share grounds, the power feed from the ECM is through two different pins (6 and 63). I was hoping to find that they shared a fuse someplace, and it is really the $5 fuse that is bad, and not $300 in O2 sensors...
I'd still ohm out the connectors on the firewall and see what is going on. Two sensors going at once is indicative of a much larger issue.

thanks for the suggestions....I will look into it a little further. I bought the car ~2 and half years ago and almost immediately I learned that the ECU threw those codes. I haven't dealt with it since b/c all mechanics advised that they're just secondary or for reassurance and are almost useless with the first set of oxs. So it may be possible that they went at two different times....however maybe not too likely.
I'll definitely take a look...I'd love to save $300!
