So i have dimmed blinking lights in the dash only when my ebrake is not engaged along with what looks like someone put tape in the cluster but i noticed nothing when i took it apart, any idea's on WTH this is about? Someone mentioned LED's in the dash burning out but this is kind of odd , even for me.

still blinking when Ebrake is disengaged. Engaged the lights are lit up but very faded and do not blink. Serious? or retarded cluster.

 

One on the right looks to be the airbag light... maybe a brake light which can sometimes come on due to abs issues but pretty sure it's airbag. the ones in the middle I'm trying to see if I can locate a print out of the other ones. You have it kind of easy since it's the lights and not digi

 

Yea it is kind of odd how they are dimmed and blinking and some look like they are taped over. i know of the airbag and abs module but the rest i am unsure about. may just order a new cluster and see if they come out more clear, etc. Is the mileage saved to the cluster or ecm?

Look at the video and remove your cluster.

There are some screws and snap in plastic parts on the back of the instrument cluster when you take it out. Remove them and pull the cluster apart.

Remove black tape.

Either you bought the car with the seller trying to hide the lights, or your mechanic did it.

Don't worry about the video not being an A4, it's the same procedure.

makes me kind of weary about the car now, wondering if i should bother with it.....eeeerm!
