Default oem s4 exhaust fits 2.8?

i read on another site that a guy has a s4 exhaust on his 1996 2.8... can they really fit? if anyone has seen or heard this, what power or sound difference does it make if any? he didnt say anything about power but he said the car sounds better than the magnaflow he used to have... so im curious now... anyways thanks in advance

An oem s4 exhaust from the turbo back will not fit on a 2.8 a4. I think the mufflers are the same beside the polished s4 tips.. Could be wrong about that though. No performance gains by swapping mufflers with one. Or any.

well is it true there is no performance gain with an exhaust system for the 2.8 anyways only sound change? so would the magnaflow muffler be the best idea? or should i be a rice a roni and take off the exhaust hahaha.... totally joking

I have an 02 S4 exhaust on mine. I got the piping from the downpipes to the tips off it. Because both applications are off a V6, the exhaust manifold setups are the same so it was bolt on in every aspect outside the slip connector from the stock piping of the 2.8 being a hair smaller than that of the S4 so the muffler shop had to cut and weld my stock slip connector to the new piping and then it hung up in all the right places and sounds great. Not much for performance because the 2.8 is just not made for speed, but it does sound good. If you search for a thread posted by me along the lines of "upgraded exhaust off an S4" or something like that, you can see pics of the new tips and what not. I have been very satisfied with the sound of the Brullen mufflers, much deeper tone than magnaflow.

I was going to say I have a 2.8 and I have been told repeatedly that I will be paying $900 for a sound upgrade not a power... Im saving my money for the PES g2

There's a good amount of exhaust info in the newbie guide, check that out.
