Question Oil: Best Bang for the Buck

Hey guys

Well its that time again...

I need to change my oil.

This is my first oil change that I have had to do because I have only had the car for four months and have put only 2500 miles on it since.

So, the burning question is...

Which is the best oil to buy for buck? I know obviously the higher the price, the better the oil, but which are the best?

Also, do you guys put different oil in during the winter than the spring? Does it really make a difference?

Also, before I forget, how many bottles do I need to buy? I have the 2.8L 30V, so how many Quarts does that take?

Just give me your input with a price of the oils that you mention

Thanks guys in advance for helping out

And If I am wasting your time, then why are you even on here?

well since you asked, by reposting questions that have been covered ad nauseum is essentialy wasting the time of every person on these forums. next time spend the 90 seconds it takes to search instead of letting everyone else do your homework for you. the answers to half of those questions can even be found in your owners manual.

Mobile one synthetic is my choice for euro cars. But please stick with synthetic the car was designed for it and will last forever almost with it.

I do alot of searching and it takes ALOT more time to find out this stuff then to really just post something new. Not only do you have to search, but then read through numerous posts by others just to find something that you can easily ask others yourself.

This site is supposed to helpful, and people ask questions OVER AND OVER AND OVER because they want an HONEST and POSITIVE answer.

People tend to ask questions about stuff before spending money because they dont want to waste their money or their time, SO QUIT WASTING MINE!!!

I dont want to rip at you, but why is this site even set up? So that people can ask questions about things they dont know.

And as for you doing your homework, people know on here what oil they use and thats all im asking you to do, just post what you use, and not rip at the thread poster for dumb questions. You wanna know a dumb question, here it is, WHY ARE YOU EVEN WASTING YOUR TIME READING MY POST IF YOURE NOT GUNNA HELP???

So again thanks for answering my original question.

And for any OTHER users, please help a brother out, after all, shouldnt we all be friends and instead rip at Ford and Chevy drivers, right???

ghost, I drive an audi too so dont be mad at me for caring about my car. And yes, I cant check my owners manual because my car did not come with one, which is why I thought I would ask NICELY here.

Thanks again, BROTHERS!!!

in my opinion mobil 1 synthetic is the best bang for your buck. I usually put about 6 quarts of 5w-30 in my 2.8 and its been running fine since

if you need someone to read the stickies to you, here you go....

Mobil 1 is the most commonly used, however there was recently a lawsuit filed against them. Apparently after some lawsuit with castrol, they reformulated it into a Group III oil, not a group IV. Any group IV oil is what you want to use. If you live in cold weather you should get 0w-40, if you live in hot weather you should be putting in 10w-40. Some people use up to a 15w-50, and 5w-40 is a good universal application. The valvoline synpower 5w30 is now an approved oil and should be availble at any parts store. Also do to its lighter weight, gas milage will improve slightly.
it takes 6.3 quarts
