I go back to Napa and the guy Tell's me that the oil filter that i have for my 2001 A4 1.8T quattro is a oil filter for a 2006 A4 so what could this mean?? The oil filter for 1.8T was revised years ago to the huge one to increase capacity to help reduce sludge. It's no big deal really if your car had a smaller one on it. Chances are the huge one has been used on your car in the past. These engines have been known to have sludge issues due to the high heat (turbo), restrictive oil pickup tube/screen, and the use of non full-synthetic oil.. Now with the use of the man sized filter and most people using full synthetic oil the sludge problems are pretty scarce.

where was the oil last changed? They did that **** to me at Jiffy Lube once, the smaller filter is way cheaper, so they charge you for the big *** one the car is supposed to have, then put that little one on instead. The big one is the right filter

No worries man. Yes, the big one will fit. I would use that one from now on if i were you, can't go wrong with a bigger filter IMO.
