ok so my car just hit 205,000 miles today and as soon as it hit that the oil light came on (service oil) but i change the oil at 203,000 does it do it every 5,000 miles or somthing?

 

The frequency of the oil change display indicating an oil change, depends on the electronic setting of the system and NOT on the actual frequency of oil change. Pop into a garage and it takes 60sec to reset it.

Oil change on my B5 is once every 10,000km, or in the UK once every 9,000 miles. Stone me why europe and the uk have different service intervals.

 

what do i do to reset it hold down a botton or vagcom?

 

with car off hold down the left trip button, turn car on but don't start, then hold down the right one without letting go of the left one. this should reset it.

 

i tried it and it did not reset i followed what you said
