Default Oil pan replacement........

So I attmpted to take my oil pan off today...... Turns out it is going to be more difficult than I had anticipated. I think the subframe is hidding a few of the bolts. And the snub mount appears to be in the way of one as well. So much for getting it off before I went to work. I dont have enough time to pull the motor up a little bit right now. There is always tomorrow I guess. Just another day without my baby.

Them German's think of some good ideas, but as far as easy access diy maintenance, you wonder sometimes. My father-in-law has a Lexus es 330 and it even has a little slide to guide the oil that drips out when you remove the oil filter. Other cars have the oil pans in spots that have nothing below it at all. Oh well, I guess saying that you have an Audi comes with a price lol.

jack the engine up a wee bit. make sure you support it (wood blocks or something) or chain supports to engine stand from above, as you don't want that thing falling on you while removing the oilpan.

Ya I am going to put a chain around it and get it up enough to work. Hopefully I can find a 1.8t oil pan in a junkyard somewhere so I dont have to wait on one. Hopefully

Default cracked oil pan

cracked mine last year at the drain hole, 'repaired' with JB Weld, still holding. small crack so I'll see a small leak if it fails. Now I just suck the oil out with the vacuum ball deal I got from the Marine store. so far, so good. 2000 atw manual.

That thought crossed my mind, but the hole in my oil pan is about the size of my pinkie finger. I would rather swap it out. Also thought about just threading it and throwing a bolt in it to plug it up.
