Default Oil pan replacement

My last oil change I noticed the drain plug was starting to strip a but, and she's been leaking a couple of drips of oil a day, so I figured I would replace the pan instead of trying to jerry rig it.

The stuff should be here next week. I did a little searching and found out it's going to be a little more complicated than I had anticipated, but shouldn't be too bad. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions of things to look out for... especially you low guys who have to replace your oil pan every other weekend.

On a side note, new brake pads all around and new rear calipers this weekend! Fun fun!

Good luck man. My oil pan has been leaking at the block for a while, but I don't feel like dealing with all ^that^ bullshit to fix it.

Ive seen a way where you use a chopped up engine mount that keeps everything bolted up yet clears acess to the oil pan.

im confused? what exactly is leaking? if its just the drain plug, do yourself a favor and buy a new copper washer and save yourself the time of replacing the pan.

as for us low guys changing pans, man you gotta get a skid plate. i was going around a sharp corner at about 65mph and hit a dip. car bottomed out to the point i was worried about the two mile ride home. nothing bad happened. im not slammed, but low enough and my skid plate has treated me well. picked up a panzer plate copy for $60 locally

My panzer plate has paid for itself plenty of times, and I'm not that low either.

The plug itself is stripped (therefore a decent amount of torque cannot be applied). I'm determined I'm going to do this next weekend, so it's going to get done. Besides, I love alone time caressing my mistress.

Anything I should look at or replace while I'm in there?

look at the last post of the DIY Linked in one of the above post (several posts up). How does he change the pan without holding the motor up while dropping the sub frame? will the snub and trans hold it,? And would you crawl under that?
