P0411 Secondary Air System, done everything, need more hints....please
Ok so everyone knows about this lovely P0411 Secondary Air System: Insuffecient flow detected. Well lets see I have replaced the EGR/AIR solenoid located under the Intake manifold. I have performed a resistance test on my original solenoid (29.1), same as new. Tested the vacuum ports which are the same on both. Still the new one is in the car. I have Tested the Kombi valve/EGR valve located behind the head. Old one would hold vacuum just like the new one, no loss of vacuum. Did not replace. I heard and saw the plunger open and close as vacuum was applied and released. Both new and old were the same. I have checked all vacuum lines and all seem to be fine. I performed output tests on my vagcom, nothing fails and i hear everything click and or operate. I have noticed that there is a big *** T hose which i thought was a PCV rubber T hose (might not be right), located right above the Kombi valve, that is very soft. Maybe that is collapsing under accel? I also tried to find the fuse and the relay for the Secondary Air pump, coudn't exactly find it. Alldata says its in 3 fold relay E block in plenum chamber. Not a clue where that is. Anyways please reply, I've been fighting this B*tch for a month. Another tip/hint, i just rebuilt the head, and had a MAF code before i ever worked on the head. Fixed the MAF code, then i got this one, just a coincidence or not?

Do you have emmissions testing and standards in your state? If not there are things to eliminate the system. You'llhave to fix the problem if so,theres info if you search.I dealt with the same code for a year with it coming down to a plugged up egr combi valve.
Yea I live in virginia and my tags are dead i need to go through emissions. Did you test your egr combi valve to see if the plunger would still go up? See i am thinking that maybe the combi valve will still open, just not enough. Although it seemed to me like the old and new one that i tried openeded and sounded the same. I just think its odd that after i fix my MAF code i get a Secondary air code.....any other thoughts?
"when removed"You should not be able to blow through it without vacum hooked up to it than when you remove vacume again you shouldn't be able to blow though it seating the plunger.I cleaned out the EGR/COMBI valve with brake & carb cleaner to see if I could unstick it and it ran hundreds of miles without throwing a code. You should just replace the valve though, you can't clean it out completly without it getting gummed up again. *You should check that you also have vacume from the soliniod and secondary air pump like I said there better info than I can think of off the top of my head right now so do some searching.

good point VW01AUDI00. I do work at a shop, so the parts not expensive, just not the kinda tech that replaces stuff cause i cant figure it out. Stupid that i didnt replace it when i had it out. Did you replace your combi valve, and did it fix your code?
Yea i hear you about the pump, but would i really get a code about incorrect flow detected? I would have thought i would get another code saying something more obvious. Also i hear the pump run... I checked in the ecm box in the engine compartment drivers side, i only see 2 relays, a huge 40 amp fuse and a 15 amp fuse, both good. Didn't just or check the relays to see if they were working correctly. I dunno any idea, or other thoughts? Also do u know any way to activate the pump, i know its only used on cold starts for a minute or so.
Apply 12v power to the pump to see if it runs.
Another possibility is the diverter valve. Porsche 996 Turbos used to throw that code due to leaky DVs and there would be no complaints from the customer other than a MIL. See if it holds vacuum.

cool, thanks will check today and get back to you. I know that will happen on 996 turbos, i work on them.. just never thought about applying that info to my car. Nice car by the way looks just like mine
