Hey everyone

So I have a 98 audi a4 1.8t and I am getting increasingly annoyed at this p1136 code that my car is throwing. I know that it means that the system is running too lean, most likely due to a vacuum leak somewhere in my intake system. So I took it to a shop and they completely overhauled my pcv system and it was supposed to fix my problems.....but it didn't. I have been looking through the service records for my car and it seems like this p1136 just keeps coming up and has never gone away. The car is chipped so I was thinking that maybe the stock wastegate was shot or is sticking open which is causing it to run to lean? basically I was just wondering if anyone else has had this same problem and fixed it somehow. I live in california and i need this cel off in order to pass smog, so any tips on how I can do that would be much appreciated.

A stuck wastegate? That rediculous. Thats a LONG term fuel trim code, meaning it has to be a very small leak. The PCV system being overhauled is good in all but you must have a vacuum leak somewhere, and there is a LOT of places it could leak. The most common place is the vacuum check valves, then under the intake manifold.
My advice is to buy a bunch of 1/8 vacuum hose, and three of those vacuum check valves http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-.../Check_Valves/ (bottom of the list) and see what happens. If you replace all your lines and those valves it should fix your problem.
You may even find you issue when you're replacing those lines.

ok I will try replacing those lines and the check valves. It has a brand new maf so that isn't it. Thanks guys

 

I fought with my 1136 ended up as the maf was bad. I know u say urs is new but its always possible for it to be bad from the store.

 

^^especially if its a kragen or autozone type of part.
