Jestnomen:
You asked about my SubBox - Here are some pics of the construction... Lots of work, but worth it in the end because I basically lost no real trunk space at all. My first time fiberglassing - which is why it looks kinda patchy.

excellent! I have been comtemplating the same install, only I wanted to locate it on the right side of the trunk. Do you think there is enough room for say an 8" or a 10"??

i do this for a livign and on a 97 you could put a 10 on the right side of the trunk. but you have to remember in depends on what sub you want to use. something basic will work not like a JL W7 use a JL W3 or something in that size. and you will have to do a fiberglass box not wood for max air space.

So would this classify as a weekend project or more than that? What's a good time estimate?

took me a couple weeks on and off - I did it in the winter in an unheated garage (with a crappy little heater). So slow hardening times and s**tty conditions made me drag it out...

if its your first time doing it I'd say a few days. I could probably do it again in a weekend now tho.

Looking at the right side, yeah you could put a sub in there - maybe an 8". I sized it up and could not fit my infinity 10" in there and retain a flush install. I assume you probably have a cd changer or something on the left side? You'd have to get a sub that required a very small airspace tho.

My computer is in the right side - here it is with the cover removed.

In the carputer?? Hard to say - money wise I guess around $900 - that doesnt include any of the stereo system. Timewise maybe 200 man-hours.

I guess I have put at least $2700 into the car in the past year. This year will be wheels and suspension so thats another $2500. Any maybe new seats (another $1500-$2000)

After that I think I will stop and go to modders anonymous.<img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">I have given up the idea of the K04. I'd rather start saving for a house.<edited><editID>brrman</editID><editDate>38070.7403703704</editDate></edited>

brrman, are there websites that you know of that show you how to handle the fiberglass or procedures?? What keeps the fiberglass from sticking to the plastic lining you put in?</P>

Well - I didn't put fiberglass on the plastic. The plastic ends where the masking tape begins. You put masking tape down where you will be fiberglassing. When you have enough glass down, let it harden, and then you can pull the section out - the tape will come with it. The plastic was just there to protect my carpet - and I'm glad I did it.I had one website I used for reference. I will try to find it again
