I used a hair dryer when I did my shifter trim, I bet you'd need a heat gun to do the mirror caps though

 

When I did my trim I used a heat gun. I think you are suppose to use a heat gun as I've seen installation videos only use them. I've got other things in mind I woud use the brushed aluminum for. They go for like $20 for 5' x 1' at ebay which is more than enough to do the mirror caps and even a lil' more if you got the nemo mirror caps.
