Haha, I really enjoy photography, too.
The best way to really find good locations is to just go out and explore, which I love to do, but it's not so easy to do that spur of the moment when it's going to cost $20-30 just in gas.

but the cool thing about getting shots in the ghetto its like a contrast and looks sick (just my thoughts)

Don't get me wrong, I love the contrast and the story it can tell, but I also love my car, my lively hood, and my camera.
So I try to stay outta Over the Rhine anytime around and after sundown when it's good shooting time. Maybe one day I'll go down with some friends but I've heard, seen, know of to much ish that goes down in the OTR for me to be there in the evening by myself walking around with a $700+ dollar camera and packing no heat.
Maybe I'll make an excursion to Downtown this Summer, but we will see what happens. Right now I'm packing for a three week camping trip out west, so when I get back I'll figure something fun to do.

best bet if you wanna get shots like that is to do as you said just a bunch of jacked friends and mr 2inch combo wrench in the car (sirously thats could **** someone up)
