Ok so the other day my radio started coming on and off random. Just the back light not the actual radio. But now today I get in the car and the odometer will not light up. Any theories on what I could do??

 

first check the battery, then find someone with a code reader to read all the faults, I'm sure there's some.

What year? I know the 96 A4's have a bulb behind the odometer, if that blows you don't get a mileage displayed when the car is running. Seems odd, it looks like an LCD display, but it somehow needs a bulb to display the digits.

 

its a 97 and i searched the forum again under intrumental cluster and i do believe its also the bulb. I went ahead and ordered it and its on its way. I will swap it out and see if that is the problem.
