Its clearly the pre 99, its the newest year before they ruined the interior with white gauges and broken LCD displays, theres still the option for dummy lights in the early models (which are great BTW) They put in cheap feeling buttons on the radio and climate control after 99 (climate control also seems more responsive on the earlier version), AND i have room for SIX buttons in the center console, while the post 99 has room for only 3 (ours light up with triangles, and the fogs can stay toggled after turning off the car)... AEB engine, drive by cable, nuff said there. /thread

Oh and we have a key cylinder on the drivers AND passenger side..

I'm partial to the '96 as I own one, but I believe the 98 just because Audi settled on what to use and not mash everything up, like every part in my '96 is a mash up of different parts. I believe the '01s suffer from this same affliction (I think they started integrating some parts to be later used in the B6)
