Default possible exhaust leak?

I had my buddy check out the problem with my car and he believes its an exhaust leak. with my little knowledge of cars should i be worried?stop driving until fixed?(have the summer car and weather is better) When i accelerate it sounds like air or something is leaking from the front and it idles very loud, same noise. Its mostly when accelrating but yeah happens a lot. Is this an exhaust leak?costly? How do i know?.. Its getting to the summer so figured Id start tackling some of the jobs while i dont need it..not sure where to start

Just have a look under the car and tighten any exhaust bolts you see. Does it sound like a honda with a crappy exhaust?

It just is running very rugged and loud..not sure if its something bad.doesnt seem like the accleration is all that good when accelating and there is a little smoke/dripping coming from exhaust when idling

I'd say it sounds like an exhaust leak. Check the flex pipes toward the front of the car, this was where mine occurred. Shouldn't cost too much to have a shop weld them back in place, or cut them out and replace them if they are shot.

Haha im still running the original ones now. And yeah the dripping is condensation, no biggie. It wont hurt the car to drive it, just your ears....

Also check the inline clamps that conect one pipe to the next. On our Audi 2.8 there are two of them. They connect each side of the engine to a Y pipe that goes into the muffler.

The bolts can rust and the clamp will open up. When it opens it can slide back on the pipe and allow some of the exhaust to leak out. That happened to our Audi.

The clamps are available at Audi dealerships. For some unexplained reason they come in two diameters. The first one the dealer sold me was too big. The second was correct.

Sounds like an excuse to get a new exhaust system
