Default Exhaust leak? Or turbo gasket leak?

Hey guys. After driving around for a little last night my car started making this noise that sounds like a exhaust leak, but it's coming from the engine bay. After 3000 rpm, I started hearing a whistling too. Could it be a turbo problem? http://tinypic.com/r/11wgg12/8 this will bring you to the video of the sound it's making

Sounds like your down pipe from turbo has cracked or snapped, same exact thing happened to me a few months back. Easy fix

As George mentioned, it sounds like the flange that connects the catalytic convertor to the turbo has cracked or broken. And just like him, the same thing happened to me as well. I had the flange welded back on for $25 but ended up replacing it with a HFC.

If that is the problem it should be fairly obvious, otherwise wait till the motor is cool and run your hands around the exhaust flange and turbo quickly to feel for any puffs.

Did you notice a big improvement in performance with that HFC? It fit well? Smog test ok? 034 version I assume.

I wouldn't say I noticed a big improvement, but it definitely helps spool. I was hoping to do some back to back logging but didn't get around to it.

I didn't even attempt to get it smogged, I had the stock cat rewelded and installed it to get smogged, put the HFC back on after.

Thanks for the help guys! My catalytic converter had completely seperated itself from the flange! I took the opportunity to buy a test pipe online to replace it! Thanks for the help!
