Default Possible Flywheel or clutch issue?

So I installed a xtd stage 3 6 puck clutch maybe 300 miles ago... now when i start the car it sounds like an extreme chatter. Not a normal chatter i have heard chattering before this is something extreme. Like something came loose inside the bellhousing. It replicates the noise on decel through any gear, it sounds between a rattle/gnarly vibrations/something spinning frealy/and a baddd chatter. I have been thinking that maybe a couple or more bolts broke off the flywheel? but I'm not real sure. the 6 puck had extremely harsh engagements that could shake the entire car quite aggresivley. I'm thinking it was one to many rough engagements and something broke inside. Any input would be appreciated, i know the xtd was a cheap clutch dont waste my time giving me ****. Just need help with the actual problem. thanks in advance

I am going to guess you installed a light weight single mass flywheel. Is it gear rattle you are hearing when the clutch is engaged?

Does the sound go away when you push the clutch pedal down to the floor?

If it is in fact the 12 lbs flywheel, that thing is going to have gear rattle like you wont believe.

If it is quattro and/or a daily driver it is best to use a heavier flywheel.

Yah it was a single mass lightweight flywheel but, the noise just started lastnight. it chattered the first 300 miles but not like this it just all the sudden started making a much worse noise. it will do it sitting at a dead stop and in neutral. so im thinking its somewhat related to the flywheel? maybe something came loose?

no i can still replicate the sound when i rev it up to 3 grand and let it drop in neutral. wont gear rattle only be heard while driving? or will it make the noise in neutral as well and yes it is the 12lb flywheel

Gear rattle happens when it is not in gear, while the clutch is engaged and the input shaft is spinning. Gear rattle goes away when you push the pedal in becaues the disk stops spinning which means the input shaft too also stops spinning.

Gear chatter is the sound you hear when trying to get the car to move.

So if you rev the engine up with it out of gear, your foot off the pedal and you hear noise. That is gear rattle.

I have heard from plenty of people that had zero gear rattle when they first installed their LWFW, but after some miles the gear ratttle started up.

okay i just went out and tested it a little more. I noticed some extreme vibrations at about 3k, im thinking thats gear rattle.. but there is still the odd noise. like something is loose and flapping around in there. I didn't replace the pressure plate to flywheel bolts, i didn't see anything in the diy's so i reused them torqued to specs and pattern and used loc tite anyway those could have failed? and maybe the pressure plate has came loose? flywheel bolts were replaced with the ones in the xtd kit and also torqued and loc tited

Gear chatter is the extremely rough engagement when im trying to get the car to move that sounds like the entire car is gonna fall apart? lol

If you are getting vibration at 3k rpms while the car is just sitting still, then my guess would be that your flywheel/clutch kit is out of balance.

There is going to be some gear chatter seeing that you have a 6 puck clutch. Way over kill unless your making 350+whp.

Yah im now learning the whole 6 puck negative side effects the hard way. So if the clutch/flywheel were out of balance what would be causing that?

If it is the issue it is because the flywheel/pp were not center balanced.
