POWER STEERING! HELP ME!!!

Default POWER STEERING! HELP ME!!!

My car is leaking power steering fluid bad! (squirts)

From the rear end of the engine bay..

What can It be?

The car is a 1997 Audi a4 Quattro, manual, 1.8l engine


Help me...

sure, but it helps to know more about your problem, like for instance, what year you have what engine you have, what the problem is more specificly, do you hear a noise, is something leaking...



I/we need more info before we can help you

fixed... the paste didnt work for some reason.

hmmm, well I would check the Power steering rack first and then work from there back to the powersteering pump, then work to the resivior and see fi you cna locate the leak.


how much are you going through?


my car's power steering rack is shot and I have to refill the resivior once a day from the low line back to the full line. So that is something I would look at.

I went through an entire quart yesterday...

My rack boots aren't filled with oil, so I think that means that they are okay.

Maybe the high pressure hose?

A few weeks ago I noticed that I had a bad clamp on one of the hoses connecting to the power steering cooler. You may want to check those two clamps.

I just replaced the high pressure hose on my 99 a4. napa had it for 149.00$. dealer wanted 256 $$
