Default problems on startup

I've got a 2001 A4 1.8T. After starting, it sputters for 10-15 seconds, with CEL. If I press the accelerator, it revs unevenly and the turbo doesn't kick in. After the 10-15 seconds, it runs just fine. Any ideas on what's going on?

Is your check engine light flashing ever?

Default CEL flash

Sorry, I meant to include that. The CEL does sometimes flash when I press the accelerator, then stops flashing once the car begins to run normally.

A flashing check engine light means a misfire. Check your codes and see which cylinder is misfiring. Chances are that your coilpacks could be on their way out. There was a recall on 2001 and up coil packs. Give your local Audi dealership a call so they can run your vin and find out if your qualify for the recall. It sounds like a coil pack issue though. It could also possibly be a maf issue but the coil pack problem is a lot more common with our cars.

Plugs could be an issue too...they will gap themselves after a certain period of time so it doesn't hurt to check them from time to time. That's weird that they wouldn't replace all the packs considering the recall.
