When I start up my car the rpm's go up like crazy for about 2 seconds and then goes back down to normal. Im not putting any gas or anything. It just does it on its own. Its been doin this for the last couple of months... Now my check engine light just came on today. ANy ideas on whats wrong. I don't think this is normal.

 

Probably a vac leak somewhere

check the idle air controller (or equivalent) that will make any other car do that
