Ok I noticed in the gas mileage thread that people were saying the green stuff is bad, which is good cuz I never use green stuff... But what is the proper coolant to be used? Like brand and what not? Or should I just go to audi and buy "audi coolant"

 

G12 coolant. You can buy it online at www.ecstuning.com or www.purems.com as well as other places. VW carries that coolant as well if you don't live near an audi dealer. I have seen Pentosin G12 at NAPA autoparts stores as well.

Dealer prices will vary, parts guys are paid on commission so it depends on what he wants to sell it to you for. Probably $30 a gallon, but that is 100% coolant which has to be mixed with water.

 

I can confirm that. Cost me 26/gallon at the dealer before I was pointed to ECS where you can get it for a hell of a lot cheaper. If you can spare the time, order it online and save yourself a few bucks.

 

Might be a really dumb question but what would happen to the engine if anything other than G12 is in it?
