Exclamation Proper Grounding (After Market Stereo Install)

OK I know other people have put after market decks and equipment in there B5's and this should be a fairly easy question, but I have no clue where to ground in the trunk with out getting alternator whine (that HORRIBLE noise in the speakers from the alternator every time you accelerate it gets louder!!) My RCA's are shielded (all 3 sets) and I know its the ground but everything in the trunk is galvanized SO PLEASE if you have after market stereo equipment in your car PLEASE tell me where you grounded!! and if you grounded the entire system to the same spot???

That's 18ft of ground wire running through a car, Amp's are supposed to have no more than 5ft... Is this what you did??

long wires = high resistance so keep them as short and neat as possible.

I usually ground amps to the lower seatbelt bolts, though I have yet to touch that stuff in my A4.

Yeah I did that before in other cars as well, I grounded to the latch handle bolt that holds the truck cover in and I get crazy noise through my speakers

My amp is grounded to a bolt on the passenger side of my trunk. Under the mat, just above the well where the spare tires is. There is a place where the paint was sanded off and the ground strap is bolted on there.
