Whats up guys.

I was just wondering if anyone has herd of Pulsar Pulgs. http://www.pulstarplug.com/
I read an article in (thats right, my mother got it for me) ImportTuner and it produced something an average of something like 11hp and 7tq on a super low mileage na 350Z that had an intake and exhaust. I almost **** my self when i saw the dyno chart on there. Ive seen ad's for these plugs in a couple different mag's. Check it out. Anybody herd of them? Ive read great things on other non-audi forums.

don't know, i guess they're made for NA engines and not turbo applications. some guy tried them and his car ran like crap

Yeah, that was funny...we tried to tell Dominoto stick with the NGKs, but he just wouldn't listen.

In the defense of pulstar they do have plugs special for turbo applications. You have to order the right plugs for your car. That being said I would never pay that much money for a spark plug Geez that works out to what? 50 years to recover your money in fuel savings.

the concept of pulstar plugs is that the plug has a sort of capacitor inside it which stores "extra" power to throw a bigger/hotter spark right? well since our coil packs only send out enough power for one spark, where does this extra energy come from? the plugs themselves dont generate it. so there is no possible place this extra energy could come from.

Quote:
Pulse plugs feature a unique capacitor-based circuit that captures energy normally wasted by spark plugs and generates a spark with 10 times greater energy than any spark plug.
we dont have a waste spark ignition setup, nor is any energy wasted elsewhere. the coil puts out power for one spark, it sparks, then it does it again for the next spark. if the plugs are storing power for one spark, it is getting the power by taking it from the previous spark.

even if we did have a waste spark setup, where theres a spark on compression stroke and on the exhaust stroke, how would the plug know to store only the energy from the wasted spark instead of the compression stroke spark? both sparks would be the same. theres a 50% chance it would take energy from the wrong one and amplify the waste spark instead.

in conclusion- $100 can buy several years worth of NKG BKR7E's

Yep they don't do crap just like ghost said. Funny thing is this came up on the RX-7 forum and a Pulstar rep came in to defend them but the thing is the RX-7's take special plugs and Pulstar doesn't even make them for it haha. Hell even an NGK rep came in haha. I have seen plug wires w/ resistors in them to make hotter sparks as well and again a lot of money for 0 performance difference.

Thread link for your enjoyment.

IMO a more efficient plug w/ a larger gap spark plug is the best way to get a hotter spark really. Like the more energy you transfer from the coil to actual ignition the better right? How will a resistor or capacitor help this? The capacitor will store it for a nanosecond and transfer slightly less then it had before as they are not efficient and a resistor is just resistance.
