Quattro Exhaust the same as FWD?
I have a 2001 A4 FWD sedan, its a manual, Ive searched and looked but im comin up dry. Is the Quattro catback that borla sells gonna fit my car? lm lookin at this one : Stainless Steel Cat-Back Cuz they dont show an exhaust available for the FWD model Lil help thanks all
It wont fit, they are a different shape. ECS had a really good deal on a FWD exhaust once, and I remember people talking about buying it for their quattros and then taking it to an exhaust shop and having them reshape it.
Definitely different exhaust between the two. For starters, the downpipe on Quattro has its transmission mounting hanger further forward, and is not compatible with the FWD transmission hanger. The Quattro downpipe also sits lower, to accommodate a center driveshaft.
What I did was shorten a Quattro downpipe (it's exceedingly difficult to find just a downpipe for FWD) and had a custom exhaust made up that bolts to a flange welded to the downpipe. In retrospect if I had bought a FWD turbo-back exhaust I could have saved money compared to how much I spent on my exhaust.
-034 Motorsport high-flow cat $295
-Milltek Quattro downpipe $199
-Magnaflow muffler $196
-Magnaflow resonator $60
-Custom 2.5" downpipe-back piping $250
Strangely enough that comes out to exactly $1000... APR Tuning makes a cat-back exhaust ($960), as does Billy Boat Racing ($900).
