Say I have a carDAQ-plus J2534 device. Is there a way I'd be able to tune my 2.8 myself for the supercharger I have?

 

Their website seems to only show its used for upgrades provided for the dealer, not necessarily something you can edit and update. I would assume if you were really good, you could recreate the software, but that seems like a lot of work

 

It's designed to do what you ask it to essentially. I'm asking if 1 it's compatible with a 99.5 ECU and 2 what software would I need to make it work. Honestly I suspect that it's a device just like this that they use for loading aftermarket flash tunes but I just don't know if I can do it or not.

 

My understanding is that the "stock" files are pretty long/crazy/intense. They are developed with a immense amount of research into how changing various settings impacts performance. Also, lots of if/then charts to change how the engine reacts to different measurements from the sensors. Not saying that it isn't doable, just that its immensely more complicated that you seem to think.

 

yes you can totally do it. i just looked it up and the software is basically based on LAbView which is a click and drag program that engineers use to created a user interface and programming for a device. however, for you to learn the programming, you'd need to take a couple of classes on it. DAQ means data acquisition device which is just a medium used to transfer signals between the user and device you want to control. i've had quite a bit of experience with labview but most of it is still unclear to me because you can basically use labview to control anything that has electronic and mechanical parts. i'm sure the program you'll be downloading is just the user interface of labview and you'll be changing settings and seeing graphs in real time but just make sure you know what changing each setting will do and how it will affect another setting. keep in mind that the car is a system of subsystems and changing settings on one of the subsystems could have a negative affect on another subsystem. ok enough of engineering crap lol. go try it
