Radiator Support/ Fender compability? Thanks.
Hello everyone,
I have searched high and low but cannot seem to find a straight answer. I recently bought a 1999.5 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro which was involved in a light collision that resulted in the driver's fender being clipped in the corner, the left corner of the hood and left side of front bumper breaking. The bumper, aside, from cracking the cover, was not bent or anything and the frame and engine of the car looks intact.
I'm looking for a replacement bumper cover which nobody seems to have, they all want to sell me the complete assembly. The problem is with the fender, everyone seems to have the earlier 99 fenders and tell me it will fit, while I don't doubt them, I want to keep the facelift look to the car. So the question is, should I be looking at '99.5 - '01 driver fenders or only '99.5 will fit my car? I'm assuming it shouldn't matter if the donor car is a 1.8T or a 2.8?
Also, there is a bar that screws into the left and right fender that is visible as soon as you open the hood. It is made of black fiberglass and the headlights and radiator fit below it. Can you confirm if this is a radiator support (lock carrier)? The left side of this "bar" was broken but is fixable with some fiberglass. I would rather buy this piece but I'm being told it's a one piece radiator support, although from the top, it looks like it's just a "bar". Also, when I buy this piece, would it matter if it came from a '96-'01 model? And again, would it matter if it's a 1.8T or a 2.8?
Thanks everyone for your input.

You should also be able to use the fenders off the B5 S4 since it too is facelift.
The whole front part that holds the radiator and is fiberglass is 1 piece. There is another piece that is below it that ties both sides of the frame together, holds the snub mount and is the stock IC pipe.

B5 bumper covers are bonded to the actual metal bumper underneath. Attempting to replace the plastic cover requires some zip-ties and epoxy, creating an undesirable fit. You need the assembly (sans grills). It will likely run you $400-600 depending on the source. S4 bumpers are really hard to find used, but search the classified for used A4 bumpers.

Hey guys, thanks for your quick responses. I was able to source a 2000 1.8T donor, which I'm taking the hood and left fender from. The radiator support I read is different from the 1.8T to the 2.8 because of the intercooler and yes Mike, I was able to verify it is a one piece unit, I thought it was a two piece...lol. Would you guys recommend an aftermarket radiator support also made of fiberglass? I didn't want to add extra weight and wanted to keep the car as oem looking as possible. Mike you mentioned I can use S4 fenders, question is, are they better than the facelift B5 fenders? Tweaked, thanks for your input in regards to the bumper, in that case, I'll go for the full assembly. Shokan in upstate NY quoted me 385 + shipping. Don't think this is a bad price considering my "local" yards in Hunts Point, NY want to charge me around 600 bucks for this. I'll keep you guys posted and once I get the parts painted to match my car, Santorin Blue, I'll post some pics up. I'm really excited about this car. By the way, it's virtually impossible to find a donor car in Santorin Blue!!

A fender from a 2000 A4 1.8t is the same as the fender off a 2000 S4. The Carbon Fiber fenders I have on my car were made using a mold that was made using an S4 fender, those fenders match perfectly with my OEM 2000 Fender and match up with my CF doors that came from a mold using my stock doors. You can see the fenders and CF doors in the picture below in my sig.
So basicaly all the B5 cars(A4 1.8t, 2.8 and S4 2.7) from 1995.5-2002 use the same fenders.

But yes, a 2000 and 2001 B5 A4 and S4 have the same fenders.

Which is exactly why I stated 99.5 to 2002 which you seemed to have missed for some reason. The 96-99 have the 2 piece and the 99.5 have the 1 piece which the facelift cars.

Thanks guys, I ended up buying a left fender off a 2000 1.8T, the guy wanted to sell me the hood but I didn't get it because it felt like a hybrid fiberglass/ metal hood. I think that hood was at some point fixed or something. If someone is in the lower NY area and has a hood, radiator support and front bumper that will fit my 99.5, please contact me asap!
