Default Radio Antenna

I have a 99.5 A4 with an aftermarket radio. My reception is terrible. Is there something with the window antenna and aftermarket stereo's that I am missing? Which side of the window is the antenna on?

Thanks

I think it was the concert radio. It was removed before I bought the car. i had to replace the existing Alpine that was installed.

Antenna may have fallen out of the back of the radio.
