Unhappy Radio code

I have a symphony radio. I need to do some maintenance work on my car and for that I need to disconnect battery.

Now I tried to locate the radio card with code on it, but it seems like I teared it away for safe keeping. So the card is not attached to the radio manual and I kept it so safe that I can't find it myself.

Is there a way to retrieve the code without going to a dealer? My radio is NOT in safe mode right now. Thanks.

Call Audi USA, they'll hook you up with your code for free. Have your VIN handy.

Yep, that was my thread that Jokeabus linked to, I was able to get my code by calling Audi USA, after my local stealership quoted me $120 to look up the code. You do need to slide out your radio though and get the serial # off the radio as well as your VIN#. Not sure about the symphony radio, mine has the concert unit, but all that I had to do was carefully slide one end of a thin tweezers into each of the slots at the bottom of the front of my radio faceplate to release the clips on either side of the radio, then it just slid right out. You only have to slide them in maybe half an inch to release the clips. (too bad that factory Audi radios aren't worth spit, or else I could start a new career stealing them, its that easy!) After you get your radio serial #, call Audi USA with that and the VIN# and get your code!

Oh and the # for Audi USA is 1-800-822-2834 (AUDI).

Yes,they are on the "Radio" manual that comes with your cars manual and other papers,i have mine but the original owner,(i am the second owner of the car)took out the card that has the radio code,as instructed by the manual,so if a would be thief, would not be able to use the radio,if he is able to steal it. So when i take out my factory symphony radio to put in my Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD head unit,i'll call up audi usa with the serial # and the Vin # to get my code,so i can reinstall the radio,if i decide to sell the car with the stock radio.

You can always hook a 9volt battery to the battery cables before you disconnect them from the battery. 9volts is all you need to sustain the ecs, tcs, and stereo codes.

That was too easy!! Thanks for this thread. I could not use tweezers but I took 2 pieces of 14 gauge wire, bent them and pushed them in to pull the radio out. Audi USA was great and called me back with the code in less than 10 mins. My daughter thanks everyone.

My thoughts are just call fAudi USA is 1-800-822-2834 (AUDI) and ask them. They would probally have the answer without you having to go to a garage and pay them to call and ask.

What could it hurt to call.

They were great for my car.
